╫ Pastor
In 1974 when I first sensed God calling me into ministry, I never
dreamed that the call would lead me to 7 states and two foreign
countries – Kenya and Haiti. Since then, I have tried to live out
this calling as a youth pastor, a senior pastor and a missionary
in California, Colorado, Idaho, Wisconsin, Illinois and most
recently in Missouri as a missionary to international students at
college and university campuses in the St. Louis area.
I came to Lanyon Covenant in September 2008. I am excited about
seeing the new things God will do in and through the church there.
To quote the movie The Blues Brothers, I feel like I’m on a
mission from God. "I believe that rural churches and churches in
small towns often overlook their strengths, We can get caught up
in comparing ourselves to mega churches, big city churches and
even other churches in neighboring areas. God did not call His
church to imitate. God called us to create. I’m here to assist the
church to become the best it can be – strengths and weaknesses all
considered.”
I realize that there are many choices today regarding finding a
spiritual home, including being a non-attender, but I believe that
God has called us into community. I think that if you really want
to grow as a Christian, you have to be connected with other
Christians in Christ’s Body – the church. If you’re in the area, I
hope you will stop in sometime. I’d love to talk with you about
your spiritual journey.
My wife, Elise and I have received a very warm welcome from a
sincere group of loving Christians at the Covenant Church in
Lanyon. We’ve been married over 33 years. We have three grown
daughters and three grandchildren.
I am an avid outdoorsman who loves fishing and hunting. I have
been involved in many conservation organizations over the years,
and I take our stewardship over God’s good gift of the creation
very seriously.
